Case Study - Ben Coomber

Don't just take our word for it ...

For us to really evidence why we consider our service ‘refreshingly unique’ in our sector, we wanted to share the story of Ben Coomber Limited – one of our valued clients who operates within the highly competitive fitness and nutrition sector.

Firstly, we’d like to say what a privilege it is to work with such a motivational, forward-thinking and positive organisation. Ben’s passion for the products, services and advice that he offers is replicated in every member of his team.

In our experience, companies with a similar ethos to Ben Coomber Ltd can find the ‘accountancy’ element of their business operation dull, frustrating, restrictive and time consuming. That’s where we come in….

At Ellacott Morris we don’t want to just be your accountant. We want to be an integral part of your business journey, helping you to achieve your goals by providing the best financial guidance. We’re as excited by our clients’ successes as they are!

Previously, Ben Coomber Ltd had suffered from bad experiences with accountancy firms they’d hired to support them and from staff they’d recruited to work within their business. They were despondent, frustrated and desperate to find a solution that meant they could work collaboratively with their accountants, not just provide facts and figures to be processed.

Ben Coomber Ltd operate across the UK and since 2018 we’ve become their outsourced finance department. Once they started working with our team and understood our approach to providing accountancy services, their confidence grew, and we took on more and more of their requirements. In 2016 we implemented Xero and since that point they have enjoyed year-on-year growth.

We currently manage the following aspects of their business:

            Payroll

            VAT return

            Tax returns

            Financial reporting

            Cash flow

            Financial planning and forecasting

            And more…

We work closely with their COO and although we’re based remotely, we feel as if we’re part of their team. We understand their business offering, their vision and their aspirations, enabling us to manage the financial elements of their business in line with their objectives.

But don’t just take our word for it, here’s what Charlotte Thompson, COO at Ben Coomber had to say about their relationship with Ellacott Morris….

We work closely with your business, offering a variety of services. Do you feel that outsourcing these elements of your business operation to Ellacott Morris provides a seamless service?

Working with Ellacott Morris has been invaluable since we first started the relationship. They have helped us set ourselves up to be in a position where we know our finances inside out and are able to get any information that we need from our systems immediately. They are also on hand to help us with all financial areas that aren’t our strong points or areas of expertise, and they have no issues with sharing their knowledge. I don’t think we would be where we are today without their continued support.

Do you feel that our team has an in-depth understanding of your business operation, your sector and your goals?

100% and more. You also always come to us if there are areas of our business that could be improved, which again really helps the operations of the business to always remain as streamlined as possible.

What is the biggest value you see from outsourcing your accounting requirements to Ellacott Morris?

A second eye over things, a whole new skillset and levels of expertise available when needed, a safety net for checking all of our financial needs and a skilled team who handle all of our tax and VAT reporting.

Can you explain how our service differs to other accountants you may have used in the past?

Diverse, highly skilled and forward-thinking team, who are happy to share their skills and help to push us forward, rather than holding us back.
